The last few days have reminded us that it will not be a honeymoon... we (he) fixed the slide, wipers, and the hitch, and made reservations for the first week's campgrounds. But we still managed a date night the night before (while we still have family around to watch the kids).
DAY 1: Sunday, April 28. We waited till 5pm to get going so Addisyn could go on one last field trip. We got a good night sleep and had all day to get the last items in order, say bye to neighbors, and close up the house. Piper played DJ and picked our song of the day: "Tour the States."
We drove 174 miles from home to Yuma Lakes RV Resort. 4:50pm to 8:30pm drive time. We crossed the state line with Addisyn and Marissa on dash in front. (Piper was land drilling a new swim routine in the back with mommy's help.)
DAY 2: Monday, April 29. Daddy picked our departure song "On the Road Again"
We drove 285 miles leaving at 9am to Benson, AZ arriving in the afternoon. Kids played and did schoolwork during the drive time. When we arrived, we had time for the kids to scooter around the park, do some schoolwork, and Chris and I could get some workout time in.
Then, we did schoolwork on the 280 mile drive to El Paso, TX, and tucked ourselves in for the night after a quick visit to the campground playground to get the wiggles out.
We are remembering how to live in close quarters and adapting to our new routines, or lack thereof. We are all feeling a certain intangible stress of not knowing what's coming next, which I'm sure is especially hard for the kids. We need to find the calendar Addisyn packed so they can keep track of the days. For now, we are working through the kinks and problem-solving skills like who should pick the game and how to avoid a half-hour of crying over who gets which side of the game board.
