Epic RV Trip -- AZ --> TX

Wed 5/1. DRIVE day-->Carlsbad, NM 177 miles.
We arrived noon or 1-ish (it was confusing b/c of the time changes).  The kids were so excited to have a pool, so they swam and played while Chris had MH to himself for school.  Chris had called ahead to the campground  to make sure they had Verizon coverage, and requested early check-in which was great so he could set everything (computers/phones/wifi) up for the first time doing his class while on the road.  We then went on a nice family bike ride on a dirt fire road and played while Chris BBQ'd dinner.  Nice dry weather here.

We learned the state bird for New Mexico is the Roadrunner -- we saw a giant statue of one made out of recycled goods at a rest stop, and then I saw one run across the dirt road during our bike ride!

THUR 5/2.  Toured Carlsbad Caverns.
Piper proudly redeemed her National Park pass and saved us the entry fees.   The girls enjoyed the handheld speaker audio tour and earned their 1st Jr Ranger badge of the trip.

FRI 5/3.  DRIVE--> Roswell & Weatherford, TX   484 miles
We made a quick change of plans this week so instead of a loooong drive day arriving at Janet's today, we took a wee detour to see the aliens and shortened the drive a bit so we could go out to a late anniversary dinner with the family.

Piper and Marissa were very helpful cleaning bugs off the MH at our fuel stops.

Addisyn didn't want to be in any pictures with aliens and didn't want to believe they are real.

We enjoyed the smaller/suburb size town, and even saw a guy practicing his roping skills in our campground.  We found a Texas steakhouse and loved how another customer was wearing his Stetson at the dinner table.  The weather turned wet and windy but we don't care.

Happy 16th Anniversary to us!  It was "out of this world" (ha!)
