This morning was a nice cool(-ish) morning to enjoy the front porch. The kids did some coloring and bubbles. Since Annabelle is potty-training, her potty seat came outside too, and my kids were very supportive and encouraging. The adults chatted and discussed mapping out our trips westward. Since I made them go do something educational on their first official day of summer break, we said we'd just hang out and not do sightseeing here, but then we changed the plans on the kids and "made" them go out to the playground and put our feet in the Atlantic Ocean. Seems like a funny thing to whine about, but they really are due for some quality downtime. We enjoyed taking our family pictures "hanging around" the playground. Oh, and I must say the best part about that picture of us all barefoot in the ocean...nobody asked me to hold their shoes--hooray!!
Matt & Marcy introduced us to Indian food for dinner, which we picked up and ate at the house. Then Marissa and Annabelle got together cousin bathtime which they both loved. Have I mentioned yet how off-schedule bedtimes have been? We've been busy and the sun's been going down late, and they are sleeping in so late that we actually missed out on some sight-seeing opportunities because we got such a late start. SO, our goal here is to adjust our bedtimes back to a reasonable hour this week--the lure is so they can wake up and play with Annabelle in the mornings. Some success here... Marissa asked to go to bed so she can be up to play with Annabelle in the morning. Addisyn just wants to stay up and bake cookies.
**SUN 6/23 Chris takes Jeep to Philly for school for the week.
We bid Chris farewell and good luck. He has a 5 hour drive and more prep work to do before all-day class tomorrow.
Matt has also gone back to school, so Marcy and Karen took the kids out a bit so he could do some schoolwork in a quiet house. Marcy is used to timing her outings around naps and such, so we had to get ready quick after not being used to paying attention to the time. Given the choice to ride with Annabelle leaving in 5 min or ride with me leaving in 10min, the kids zipped into action and were ready to go quick as lightening!! (Why won't they do that for *me*?) I got to drive Matt's truck--easy to spot in the parking lot because it's higher than all the rest. We went to the community center with indoor lap and play pools. I got deep water to practice synchro for the first time. The lifeguard had never seen syncro in person before and asked several questions which I didn't mind. Marissa went back home with Marcy & Annabelle, while Addisyn & Piper and I did the climbing wall and diving board. So fun! They actually have a rock handholds mounted on plexiglas so you climb and then just push off and fall back into the deep end.
We came back and showered during Annabelle's afternoon nap so we wouldn't waste any precious cousin play time. Addisyn made more cookies, this time sugar cookies with frosting and sprinkles, and all the kids got to decorate some. My girls got to know Annabelle's bedtime routine and love reading on the top bunk with her. We did our best to tidy up the house for Monday morning's inspection/assessor. Their house is in escrow--they are selling and moving back to San Diego in a month!!!!
**MON 6/24
I woke up first, so I got to play with Annabelle first and then I brought her in the motorhome to wake my girls up. (Early bedtime is only so effective, and they are legit worn out!) They were half-happy and half grumpy over the cute wake-up call. (*ha) My girls we happy though because they got to invite Annabelle into the bunk bed "fort" (flip Marissa's mattress up over you and you are closed in). This morning we went to Annabelle's "Little Gym" class, and hit up the book store closing next door for a few $1-3 books.
After lunch, Karen ran to AAA and the store while kids played Wii. Then we girls babysat so Matt & Marcy could go on a long overdue date. I was very proud of Addisyn and Piper for remembering the routine and got her down to bed on time with very little help from me. Our happy cook Addisyn made deviled eggs tonight--she is really enjoying the kitchen.
I didn't hear from Chris until 11pm tonight--they are working hard in class all day and doing homework all night.
