The BIG move to a NEW home!

A BIG HUGE HUMUNGOUS THANK YOU to everyone who helped us move to our new home!  For all the help painting, cleaning, lifting, driving, fixing, packing, unpacking, picture taking, and babysitting, we VERY much appreciate your help--we couldn't have done it without you.

This is the Paseo Fuerte house before we moved in. We spent the week after closing escrow fixing the place up. We cleaned and painted walls in three bedrooms, fixed outlets and wiring, cleaned every nook and cranny of the kitchen, had the atrocious blue master bathroom demolished, and had new carpets installed.

As we took furniture out, the Cressy house seemed to grow larger and larger.  Here are a couple pack-out pictures at the "old house":

The actual move:
We rented a Uhaul truck, and Chris and our dads and Mike all helped load and unload all the big furniture.  While I was inside packing, Sue had the girls outside helping; I'm glad they got to participate.  We got all our essentials on Saturday, and we went back a few more times for the attic and other items we didn't get to. 

First moments in the "new house"--
Addisyn and Piper are adjusting well and love their new playground/house. They each got a box with their name on it to pack their bedding in the morning, then they unpacked it and got their room all set up in the afternoon.  They like exploring outside and made themselves at home at the new computer "desk" (i.e. folding table, because we have to figure out the furniture situation still). 

We slept in the new house on Saturday night. The girls predictably went to bed late and were a bit too anxious to fall asleep right away.  I think all the adults were worn out enough and slept deeply.  We are getting used to the new noises here, such as: appliance beeps, the neighbor's rooster or bobcat (tractor, not animal), and the rock quarry site that is active by 6 or 7am.  We are also getting used to the home with the long hallway, no bathtub, and trying to prevent girls from being "scared" all alone at one end of the house.  I am also trying to establish house rules after all the chaos of the week.  Good thing we can be somewhat flexible, since our TV is on the living room floor and right now I'm sitting in the darkness at a computer on a folding table (no lights in this room yet).

The showpiece of this house seems to be the pond.  The kids love playing out there (don't worry, we lock doors up high and one of our rules is they always have to tell an adult and get permission before going out), feeding the turtle and koi,  collecting pine cones, and picnicking for breakfast or lunch.  I enjoy listening to the steady soothing flow from the waterfalls.  I can't wait to get some comfy patio couches and ottoman to put my feet up and relax out front by the pond regularly.

We continue looking for things in boxes and unpacking little by little.  One of these days we'll be ready for a housewarming party (June?); in the meantime, if you need our new address, you can email or call us.
