Marissa's 2nd month

Marissa is TWO months old today.

Stats from doctor appt today:
Weight: 10 lbs, 8 oz (30%ile), a gain of 2 lbs this month
Length: 22.5" (52%ile), a growth of 1.5" this month
Head circumference: 15" (46%ile), a growth of 1" this month

We got some nice weather at the end of the month, so we let Marissa enjoy the great outdoors in her exersaucer...propped her up with a blanket in front so she wouldn't flop forward.  She loved sitting out there hanging out and watching us do yard work.

Marissa had several "firsts" this month:
1st bottle at (5 weeks old)--daddy gave her her first bottle and she took right to it no problems at all, just liker her sisters did
1st grandma babysitter (6 weeks old)--for a couple of hours at grandma's house
1st hike (6 weeks old)--Stacy got me out to Cowles Mtn; Marissa slept the entire time, enjoying the rocking/bouncing movement from my steps
1st cold (6 weeks old)--it lasted 1 week and wasn't terrible, but it would make me sad to see her cry after coughing or blowing a snot bubble with a sneeze; thanks to an awful flu season and two older siblings in school
1st rollerblade ride (8 weeks old)--yay for jogger strollers, and my sister Marcy who took me out to Lake Murray on a beautiful day; she slept the whole time
1st swing -- what a great discovery for me when I saw it hidden in the back of her room...she likes it!
1st exersaucer -- a bit big for her, but when propped up with blankets, a great change of position for her, and another break for my arms

Marissa sleeps a lot, being awake no more than 8 hours/day.  When she is awake, she is really paying attention to things around her and responds to stimuli (sound, light, people).  She frequently smiles for me "on command".

She feeds every 2-4 hours in the daytime, but goes a long 4-7 hour stretch for night.  A typical night schedule is nurse and bed around 10:30pm, quick feeding at 4/4:30am, and up around 7/7:30am.  We are (usually) able to put her down to bed drowsy but awake and she'll go to sleep on her own (in a tight swaddle).

She enjoys swinging--in her carseat to settle down after buckling in, and in the baby swing.  Her best toy is the crib mobile.  She dislikes tummy time and having face covered (like to play peek-a-boo).

Impromptu photo shoot:  I caught her in a good mood outside, so I sat her on my lap, propped her head up with my left hand, and took photos with my right hand.  Thank goodness for digital photography since I took about 50 pictures for a few smiles.

Soothes herself by sucking on right fist (thumb and first knuckle)

BIG yawn...after 6 immunizations today

I almost marked "yuck" for the pink head bow, but I like the rest to much to do that. You have beautiful girls.
