Up

The girls in this family are all feeling better after getting sick last week. We are on the up and up now...

Addisyn is learning her opposites. She says these words now:

• Up-down -- We practice this one by being silly, pulling her shorts up and down after diaper changes. And now Addisyn can ask to be picked "up" instead of "uh..d..d" (which is short for upsie-daisy).
• Stop-Go-- She knows red means stop and green means go, and enjoys being a backseat driver (and today I was cracking up in the car hearing her say stop-gooooooo, stop-goooooooo, ...with lips puckered up like she was howling at the moon!)
• On-Off-- besides wearing out the light bulbs with all the flashing, she also says "off" when removing an item from atop something.

Piper is learning to crawl-UP and stand-UP. Although she absolutely loves crawling under chairs and under the piano, she has so much pride and joy when she gets herself up to a standing position. She grabs the stool (or chair, or box, or mommy), gets on one knee, then straightens the other leg out back like a tripod and then straightens out the first knee so she is at an angle, leaning on the chair, then she can walk her legs closer to an upright stand. She is getting more and more balance and can let go with one hand and re-grab without falling. The problem is when she forgets to grab on again ;-)
