Addisyn is 14 months old today

Grammy Susan took Addisyn to the park with a 2 year old friend Myron yesterday. There was a play fire engine that seemed to be popular. Thanks Grammy for the cute action shot!

Today, Addisyn turned 14 months olds. Although I am constantly raving about how smart my baby girl is, I don't think I've ever sat down and make a list of milestones. It's hard to pinpoint exactly when some things occur because they are an evolving progression of skill level and practicing. Here is a list of many accomplishments lately:
  • waves hi and bye
  • blows kisses
  • signs "please" on command
  • recognizes doggies and cats
  • kind of signs "cat"
  • petting animals is getting more gentle (you know, rather than just grabbing it's fur)
  • walks, runs, climbs
  • walks up and down a 3" step w/o holding on to anything
  • walks backwards (often pulling her little shopping cart)
  • loves to bounce/jump on the bed or couch, and falling is half the fun
  • stands on toes to reach or see something high
  • can reach and grab stuff off the dining room table
  • goes down the slide by herself
  • dances to music by moving her feet, bobbing her booty, or shaking her head
  • pulls her shirt off over her head when undressing
  • transfers toy from one hand to the other in order to feed arm through armholes when dressing
  • likes to touch her belly ... and mine too
  • tries to put her shoes and socks on, bringing the sock or shoe to her foot--she can even get the sock open pointing at her toes
  • can communicate when she is hungry (today, she got the Cheerios out of the cabinet, carried it to the high chair, and grunted to be put in the chair)
  • learning to self-feed with a spoon--she dips the spoon in the food and puts it in her mouth (and sometimes her nose, chin, chair, floor...!)
  • proficient with sippy cups
  • drinks from a regular cup, while I hold it, without dribbling
  • holds 2 or 3 things in one hand
  • brushes her teeth
  • holds toy phone to ear (ok, actually on her shoulder)
  • talks with inflection and imitates word sounds
  • puts things away when asked
  • understands "no" and stops what she's doing
  • wants to sit in her own spot on the couch, rather than on our laps
  • likes board books with things to touch and flaps to flip
  • loves to push buttons and flip light switches
  • still loves opening and closing doors and drawers
  • loves the sandbox
  • still loves playing with water
  • still loves bathtime and having water poured/sprayed over her body and head, and on her own will pour water from a cup onto her belly
  • recovers quickly from seeing mommy leave (when left with Grampy Dave)
  • has definite opinions and lets you know what she wants!
Addisyn now takes 1-2 hour naps twice a day (and her mommy takes at least a 1 hr nap per day). Her eyes are no longer blue; I think they are turning hazel (like mine). She is seeming to become right hand dominant--she prefers to hold spoons and crayons in her right.

Now that is some list! You'll be happy later on, that you wrote it (and so will Addisyn). Sept 11, Nov 11 -- she's bound to be a patriotic person. We always have a big smile when we speak of her, picturing that cute little person, whose accomplishments are noticed and celebrated. Thanks for spreading the joy.
