Several months ago we visited an Orthopedic doctor and found out Addisyn has what is called "Trigger Finger" on her right thumb. She could not straighten her right thumb due to a thick spot in her tendon which made it difficult to pass a "pulley" when lengthening the thumb--so she has had a bend thumb all the time. (See picture #1 in her hospital gown.) Today, she had the surgery to release it. Dr. Miller was very confident about the procedure and said everything went well. It took less than 30 minutes and we were in and out of Children's Hospital in a quick 4 hours.
She had anesthesia (gas, then injection) and slept through the procedure and about 45 minutes after. We were not allowed to be with her, but she was happy to see us afterwards, despite being VERY groggy. Her throat was a little sore also because she had a breathing tube in. I held her close and she fell back asleep in my arms for another 40 minutes in the recovery room, before having the IV taken out of her other hand. Everyone at Children's was super great and kind to us.
So now Addisyn is wearing a bandage as big as a cast on her right arm so she won't pick at it. Hopefully it will last the whole week she is supposed to wear it... our active girl has already put it in her mouth, got food on it, gotten it dirty, crawled on it... She doesn't seem to mind that it is there, although she did realize the difference while playing. (Pictures #2 and #3.)

Reading about Addisyn's surgery was a big surprise to us, as we just saw you yesterday and you didn't mention it. So glad she is doing well - little ones are so resilient.
Karen, You guys have been so busy lately. I love that Addisyn is such a trooper with her little cast. I also enjoyed the kayaking. I bet Ellie would love that. What a great idea.
