QUARANTINE School -- 1st week Zoom & Playlists

April 20-25 Back to "School" -- Zoom and "Playlists"

Some schools are hanging on to hopes of returning to campus before the end of the year and others are already talking about distance learning in the fall's new school year.  Grades and elective courses are out the window.  Schools are minimizing requirements to keep a level playing field and make it manageable for teachers teaching from home and parents of students who are working and can't monitor "school" all day.  But I think the poor performing students are going to be even further behind the kids who were able to keep a learning routine.

P&M- have a 15 min morning check-in daily with their homeroom class.  

M- has writing with her teacher 1x week on Fridays in small groups.  

P- is starting 1 hours with her subject area teachers...Word Masters Kahoot w/McDaniel

A- thought she had 5 hours of work, but after a few days realized it was more balanced, but lame bc some repeats so it's boring... better too easy than too hard we said.

A's daily morning check-in is a lot longer... 45min-1 hour... not sure why besides getting more direction/instruction on the first day or two.  Teachers are implementing new guidelines the best they are able to.

Kids needed to be told that they actually have to DO and FINISH the activities, not just click on them... the teachers can see who has finished them.

A's teacher sent and end of week report--she participated in everything and with good scores.  

P- keeps finishing early or playing games in a side window during school time

M- keeps getting distracted and doesn't get anything done until I push the issue

Apparently there's a program that tracks their time in some of the activities-- Addisyn already figured out how to play a video and walk away (it was a repeat of something she already did this year).  Piper said she was done with school for the day in an hour and a half. Marissa is sitting watching the GoNoodle characters instead of dancing and moving with them for PE.

The girls are using their bedrooms so they don't disturb each other-- I made them clear a wall behind them for some cleanliness and privacy on their screen.  

Chris tried taking Addisyn to work with him one day since she can do school from anywhere.
