Barca's club recreational beginner program in the spring was a great intro to the game as a team sport. There were 5-6 kids on a team and they played on a mini field with a medium size goal. I think her favorite part was that she got to be on team "USA" and had an identical uniform to what the real USA team wore. This program was a great price, but felt disorganized. Beginner soccer is all parent volunteer coaches--we were happy with our coach for teaching them new skills and making them excited about the sport. Piper loved it!
So in the Fall, we signed up for AYSO. She played on a full size team and learned real positions on the field. The "Golden Fireballs" wore yellow jerseys and played almost every Saturday for 3 months. Coach Brett made sure they learned ball handling skills, and empowered girls by giving them girls opportunities to lead stretches and pick drills at practice.

I'm excited because Piper wants to try indoor soccer. I think that would be fun (even if she just wants to play where she thinks it won't be so hot)!
