Halloween Bride, Cheerleader, Cow

We borrowed some costumes from friends this year for Addisyn and Piper--yay for sharing!  And I had the cow costume I loved saved from a few years ago for Marissa.

The kids Trick or Treated on our street and went through the mini-haunted house at our neighbor's, then did one more street at our old neighborhood before dinner at Brooklyn and Brett's family's annual Halloween party.

I tried teaching Marissa how to say "Trick or Treat" and she repeated it once or twice, but it didn't stick.  She did follow the other kids up to the door with her pumpkin bucket.  Her prized candy was a Tootsie lollipop (my pick for her since it would last a while and less messy than melty chocolates). The older sisters were thrilled to play with their friends.

Our carved pumpkins didn't last as long as I'd like, maybe 5 days.  I tried soaking them in bleach water to hydrate them and kill bacteria.  All the pumpkin preservation methods I found online seemed to have mixed reviews.  They looked nice and crisp, but I ignored them after Halloween and they "melted"  (bottoms soggy in a puddle).  Our warm weather didn't help them (the heat lingered this year, but I'm NOT complaining... I'll take heat half the year over snow half the year).

Now on to controlling the candy intake... (mommy is just as guilty as the kids on over-eating that chocolate and sugar!)  Happy Halloween!
