Working for "the man" and the man is himself! This November, Chris made a job transition to a new company he and Marc created called Fides Wealth Strategies Group. He and Marc each have a privately owned share of this new company. Fides stands for trust and loyalty, as in, they will be trustworthy and safe caretakers of their clients' finances, looking out for their clients' best interests. Their clients must trust them, because so far, they are all sticking by their sides as they move accounts with the switch of broker dealers from New England Financial to LPL.
The idea of going independent has been in Chris' mind probably since he graduated college, but realistically, a financial planner needs a larger firm to broker with and comply with federal regulations on the industry. He has worked at a giant firm for 13 years (MetLife and New England, a MetLife company), and while benefited greatly and grew professionally from that opportunity, grew tired of the hassles that are present in a big company. The timing of this move coincides with the end of his current employment contract and MetLife absorbing the New England name.
Considering and preparing for the move was full of uncertainties. Content of this paragraph has been redacted. Content in this paragraph has been redacted. Now, even after trying to understand his industry, it is confusing to me, so just don't ask me to explain how his new company is Fides Wealth somethingorother, yet he works with LPL, and gets paid through CTR Wealth, and does something through WCG (Wealth Consulting Group / aka "the firm") (*ackkkk*).
I am glad that Chris is happy with his move, his clients are supportive, and despite working crazy long or weekend hours, he keeps his sanity and still prioritizes quality time with family. I have an amazing husband!
