New School Year! Piper starts Kindergarten

School started on Wednesday, August 20th.

Addisyn started 2nd grade with Mrs. Orduno and Miss Shroeder (student teacher).  She has two teachers for the first trimester, so her teacher has plenty of time to answer my questions and help kids.  Addisyn says "2nd grade is awesome!"

Piper started Kindergarten with Mrs. Hobson.  She was very excited, as she's been looking forward to this for 6 months!  She was also a little nervous, but didn't show it until she entered the classroom to sit on the carpet with all the other kids.  She had a great first day and a great first week.  Mrs. Hobson is is new to Fuerte this year, so we didn't know what to expect from her, but she is a  veteran kindergarten teacher, supportive and encouraging with the kids, and always smiling.  Mrs. Hobson lets us know that Piper is responsible and well behaved at school.  :-)


The girls walk to school every morning.  Daddy even walked halfway with them for the first day.  It is a half-mile walk one way.  Marissa rides in the stroller.

Addisyn and Piper love their school and were excited for their first Friday spirit day.  All three of us are wearing our Fuerte Falcons shirts here.

The kids even help make and pack their sandwiches.  We are making a week's worth of sandwiches on Sunday in preparation...that's making 10 sandwiches at a time and putting them in the freezer, saving my sanity on weekday mornings.
