Winter fun: puddles, yard work, soccer

Time has flown this last few months.  The baby is demanding time-wise, but we were sure to spend quality time with the big sisters too.

Addisyn and Piper loved the rain boots Santa brought them for Christmas, and found puddles that were perfect for them.  (Chris has since fixed the drainage in our driveway.)  I love the picturesque landscaping in our front yard where Piper is collecting pine cones.  With all our pine trees, we've collected boxes and boxes of cones for Aunt Didi's camp. 

When the rain went away, we had some gorgeous days for yard work!  Addisyn and Piper brought their kid scissors outside to help me with the trimming.  Our yard became a tad overgrown over the last year and now we're playing catch up with the trimming, raking, and filling green cans.  Chris has also cut down a couple problem trees and is planting new queen palms by the pond in front.

In addition to 1x/week tumbling class at the rec center, we tried a new soccer program.  We want our kids to have an introduction to a team sport and they are benefiting from the physical activity.  Day 1 was spent picking fingernails and grass, but we hyped them up by getting brand new shin guards and soccer balls. Addisyn is not as quick as the other kids, but we are so happy she was running and smiling by the 4th session.  Piper seemed intimidated by the crowds, and was willing to play alongside Addisyn with the 5 year olds.  The puzzling part is why Piper, who looks forward to soccer and normally loves making new friends, later only sat on the sidlines picking and throwing black pellets from the synthetic grass.
