Summer Fun 2012

We had a busy busy summer.  If we weren't camping or at swim lessons, we were out and about or sweating it out at home.

We kicked off summer with a (cold) day at the San Diego (Del Mar) Fair.

In early summer, each daughter got to have a special one-on-one day with mommy.  I really enjoyed that dedicated time with each of them, undistracted by siblings.  For mommy date day, Addisyn got to go to Sea World (June 21), and Piper got to go to the Zoo (June 27).  They also got a special Daddy and Grandma Susan day to Disneyland together June 24th (I can't find any pictures though).

When at home, the sisters were good at finding ways to stay busy.  When not playing with their stuffed animals and "babies", they found ways too cool off.

We took our big summer camping trip to Bryce Canyon and Zion National Parks in July.  We got to spend nice quality time with family.

In August, we finally managed to get the boat to water.  We made a family day at Mission Bay one Sunday, then left the girls with grandma, and Chris and I took the boat on an adults river trip the following weekend.

Swimming: The girls had a total of 35 half-hour lessons at the rec center this summer, plus all the times we went swimming for fun while camping or at the neighbors' pools.  Addisyn can get around on her own and will get a breath of air and keep swimming.  Piper's kicks propel her, and we have to remind her to do her "big arms" or "circle-circle" to get her arms going.  They both worked on side breathing, and can float on their own.

These two short videos to show how the girls are doing with their swimming. This was their last swimming adventure for the summer, at the Santee Lakes campground pool, where we spent the weekend.

I've been back to work for a week already; Piper goes back to preschool tomorrow, and Addisyn starts Kindergarten on Thursday.
