Look Who's Talking (kind of)
Addisyn learning to talk:- uh oh --one of her first words: meaning she dropped something, someone else dropped something, something fell, the phone rings, the oven beeps...
- dada / daddy
- mommy / mama
- Yea --for yes
- mmmmm --for yummy
- I don't want it (meaning all done) "ahdoewah" --says this all the time when done eating, when she wants the car ride to be done, when she doesn't want what you are offering her...
- all done "ah doe" --doesn't say this as much now that she says "ah-doe-wah"
- upsie daisies "uh ss d' " --repeats after me when getting out of her seat or from the changing table
- sit "si" (silent t) -- while looking at you and pointing to a chair or seat
- sock --said this once yesterday while bringing me a little booty sock for Piper
- book "boo" (silent k) --said this once today while bringing me a book to read with her
- doggie
- banana "nana" --said a few times
- hi --said with great joy! also used while playing peek-a-boo
- bye --said this a couple times repeating her toy which says it when turning off, but sticks to waving (or blowing kisses) when around other people
- Mimics sounds all the time, trying to say things. For example, today we saw a picture of broccoli in her picture book so I prompted her to repeat after me and it actually kind of sounded like brocooli after a couple tries; I think she was trying to say shoe today too.
Other observances of Addisyn at 18 months old:- loves the park--swinging, slides, climbing, the sand --and she is getting more comfortable "side-by-side" play around other kids, but still doesn't play "with" them yet
- enjoys pulling weeds--and walks around the backyard pulling them up and putting them in the bucket!
- likes to draw with crayons or on the chalkboard
- likes music and will turn on multiple musical toys or the radio at once
- can match shapes and put shapes in their holes -- she does best with oval, circle, square, and star shapes, and the hardest is the quarter circle shape
- can open and close doors by pushing or pulling, including opening the front screen and the inside garage door (danger! danger!)
- stands on her chair so she can reach the light switches and gives us a light show (on off on off on...)
- stomps her feet and wails when she doesn't get her way
- is already developing a shoe fetish--I think she was in shoe heaven at the store the other day...she REALLY liked trying on the different shoes!
