2 weeks

Piper turned 2 weeks old on Friday, but it seems like we've had her forever already. She's doing great. She will now open her eyes and stay awake for an hour or two at a time. So far, her awake hours are not in the middle of the night (*knock on wood*), and she continues to go 2-4 hours between feedings. Last night, she slept in her swing (and I on the couch) because she wasn't happy in the crib, but she did sleep for a 4 hour stretch (and luckily we have a comfortable couch). Piper has yet to be a good burper, so I am now dressing her in bibs--to keep the spit-up off of her shirt.

Piper attended her first formal event, going with us to Chris' MetLife Recognition dinner on Saturday night. Addisyn got to sleep over at grandma and grandpa's house, but I didn't want to leave Piper for so long. I wore a black dress designed for nursing moms and it also hid my post-pregnancy pooch well. Piper wore a clean sleeper and didn't puke on it all night--what a good girl! She got lots of attention and adoration.

Addisyn still loves Piper, but she also seems to need a lot more attention herself this last week. She asks to be held more often and started these little fits when she doesn't immediately get what she wants. Despite my headaches (literally, I've had one for over a week and a half), I try to stay calm, (not cry myself,) and calm her down before attending to her wants or needs. Hopefully this will teach her that throwing a fit is not going to get her her way.

On the other hand, Addisyn is doing well learning to self-feed with a spoon (see photo evidence here!) and is quickly learning more words. While not talking yet, her understanding is amazing. Addisyn knows body parts such as toes, feet, belly, shoulders, ears, nose, and mouth. She can do signs for please, thank you, more, help, eat/hungry, yes, and no.

Chris is using his family leave time from work to work on the backyard. He is outside right now laying more pavers for the raised patio next to the future grassy area. He, with some help from his dad on Sunday, laid 4 pallets of pavers this weekend. Addisyn "helped" him yesterday by going to Home Depot with him and playing in the dirt while he worked. He really is a remarkable man, husband, and father!

Sounds like your girls are keeping you busy! Addisyn sounds like she is getting to be a real big sis! Glad Piper didn't puke on herself (or anyone else) at the party and i'm glad you got to go :)
