It's about time we learned the words to this song! All we know is:
"On the road again .... highway .... byway
.... going places I've never been .... on the road again"
Here they are-- Thank you Willie Nelson
So we sang it about 10x on the way to Four Corners. I can't believe they charge admission here now! At least one of us was young enough to get in free. The Indian reservation has built up around it with vendor booths to sell their wares. We enjoyed sno cones and Fry Bread tacos for lunch from a trailer food truck.
In Arizona we came back a time zone to PDT. Same time zone as California and one day closer to home. Today is one of three drive days in a row to get us home. We are staying in Page, AZ tonight at the same campground we stayed in a few years ago. It is hot, but nice to have a big shade tree at our site. The kids are driving us nuts in the motorhome so we sent them to the pool. Marissa is so nice to share her pool toys.
There are a lot of RV Rentals here; Page, AZ is a gateway to Lake Powell.
(Mental note if I ever want to rent an RV... bring my own fresh water hose and gloves)
**FRI 8/2 Drive-->Sam's Town
We've got to milk all the quality outdoor family time we can get before we get home, so we went for a family hike in the morning up the hill to enjoy the view before it got too hot.
As we hitched up the Jeep, the steps started behaving badly. They are going in and out involuntarily, and once when I was on it. eek. Glad this is near the end. Chris disconnected them and tied them up. Watch your step when opening the door!
We drove our Hurricane through Hurricane, UT. I don't know why that matters, but it's kind of funny to have the same name.
The kids made their last efforts on their USA state tests. They are eager to find out how many tokens they earned? They worked so hard this week studying! They made me proud, all passing with over 200 points each. Addisyn knew just about every capital, and Piper went all-out on interesting facts about the states. Marissa was able to ID half the states without any help, and then she labeled the rest with a list of state names to match up (with just a little help telling her if one was wrong so she could correct it herself).
Tonight is a little bittersweet as our last night in the motorhome.
