Baby Chicks

We built a new chicken enclosure and got new baby chicks to raise.

We picked out 2 Barred Rock (black and white), 4 Golden Sex Link (ginger color), and 2 Rhode Island Red (dark auburn color).  The kids love how soft they are and how they fit in the palm of their hand.  We keep them in a big tub with a red heat lamp in the house to keep them warm.  They are too small to hop out of the bin.

After spring break Marissa wanted them for sharing at preschool.  I managed to secure a wire cover and travel with 3 chicks in an Easter basket to school and the kids thought it was hilarious when the chicks tried hopping up on the rim and try to get away.

We were crazy enough to take the chicks with us on a road trip with us in April to Addisyn's dance competition in Las Vegas.

In about a month, they were too big for the house and ready for the coop.  Their regular feathers have started growing in so they can stay warm outside.  The kids are still having fun playing with them.
