Addisyn has been into sewing lately.
Addisyn on her 5th grade floating science lab field trip.
Marissa took Corduroy to Mt Helix, and wrote about their day in his journal for preschool.
LAST OF DESERT SEASON: BROKEN BUGGY
The buggy broke and this became our last desert weekend of the season. The trailing arm got loose and put a hole in the engine. Chris managed to explain to the insurance company how it was within parameters for a claim and got it covered.
And... We weren't the only one who broke-- Dan got towed back after slamming in the front end. Jacob got stitches and learned a lesson about playing with bungy cords.
At least we had some good rides first, and had a fun weekend otherwise.
KAREN -- LAS VEGAS -- SYNCHRO & HIKING WEEKEND
Karen went to Las Vegas for a synchro clinic and drove out early enough to go hiking at Red Rock Canyon the evening prior. There were snow flurries while driving which surprised me. I was not expecting it to be so cold! But my hike was wonderful as long as I kept moving to stay warm. The clinic was at a beautiful indoor pool with coaches from national level teams. Ludi Perrin-Stsepaniuk also had performed in Le Rev, so she coordinated a show time for us and we got to see the staging areas and meet some performers (backstage is off limits for safety reasons).
We took the kids to Boomers to celebrate good 2nd trimester progress reports. Yeah, we just wanted an excuse to go do something fun... and we are proud of our girls putting forth good effort in school.
GIRL SCOUT COOKIES
Both Addisyn and Piper met their "super stretch goals", and sold 650 boxes, earning "cookie bucks" and a week at summer camp. They worked hard putting in time on their feet and making sales videos. I made my first vinyl heat press project with shirts that they helped decide the wording for.
As they reached their initial goal, we realized they could get to the next level with a little more push and the motivation from knowing Grandma Edgar would help them reach the goal when they get close. Then as they got close to their stretch goals, they got motivated by the cash prize and that's why we put in so many booth hours in the last week.
In the end, they were able to take donated boxes to Fisher House (a house at the Naval hospital for families to stay in when their family is being treated) where our friend was staying, and to the Spinal Cord Unit at the VA.
JEEP trip TDS -- MARCH
Chris, Karen, Piper, and Marissa took the motorhome and Jeep out for "Tierra Del Sol" Jeep weekend.
The event itself had quite a "fair" atmosphere. We camped with our friends and tested their Jeep skills off-roading together. We didn't do the more extreme hills and tight spots ourselves, but enjoyed watching the others. We crunched our exhaust tip on rock but we never got stuck or broke down, so it was a successful trip for our Jeep.
Addisyn was at St. Patrick's Parade with her Irish dance this weekend (there were cute photos... lost them...maybe I'll find them and add them one day).

Random phone filter fun--
Marissa at Sea World, braving the slimy sting rays--
Addisyn working Safety Patrol, and her Safety Patrol trip to the zoo--
Addisyn, Piper, and Marissa each have a pet Beta Fish that she takes care of herself. Addisyn's is named Abigail, Piper's is Reina, and Marissa's is Beta Teta Rand, aka Anchor (she doesn't understand the irony of the name she picked but she loves it!).
