We had family over to celebrate with us on Sunday night. Then, as has become tradition, we decorated her bedroom with crepe paper while she was sleeping. It was a little harder to do for the top bunk bed.

We tied her hair up in the shape of a number 8.
She felt very special on her birthday. We went out to Souplantation for her real birthday dinner and the waiters even sang to her!
She had a party with friends the following Saturday--she wanted to invite 30 girls! We pared it down to 20, and because we handed out paper invitations only the week of the party, we ended up with 10, which was a nice size party. The Shopkins theme was a hit...one friend even said it was the "best party ever!" Nice. Games included blindfold sticker game, obstacle course, speed shopping relay bingo, and free play on the playground since the rain stopped for a day. They also got party favors (individually wrapped Shopkins) inside the balloon pass game and the punch box. Piper got a lot of Shopkins themed stuff as gifts, but she really wants a "Shoppee" so we'll take some of her bday cash to the store so she can buy one.
I think the most special gift was the UNICEF watch/activity band. She first read about it in school in a December issue of Time magazine for kids and got super excited about it. She really wants to help the children. She had even gone to Target and asked an employee about it since the magazine said it was sold at Target. She didn't have the cash to buy it yet so getting it for her birthday was pretty cool. She is having a blast comparing her steps to Aunt Stacy and earning food packets for hungry children.
