It's not about the cookies, it's about the experience of them working (selling cookies) for what they want (troop activities & camps), and understanding business as well as customer service and self-confidence skills.
Addisyn, Piper, and Marissa learned a lot, built on their past experiences, and helped their sister with learn the business. The girls helped decide how many of each flavor to carry up to each door or pack for a booth. They set goals based on their history of selling. They made signs and helped decide on slogans for location and upcoming holidays. They learned how to approach customers with a smile and how to handle rejection. They counted money and split their sales fairly. We made receipts to keep orders organized and and thank you notes to show our gratitude and encourage future sales.
I, mom, was a huge part of their labor force, being responsible for counting, tracking inventory, scheduling booths, driving, encouraging, and chaperoning. I had fun making the shirts they designed with my Silhouette and vinyl. It was a cold rainy sales year but they coped and finished strong with beanies, jackets, and umbrellas.
P.S. We delivered donated boxes of cookies to Military heroes in April. We met amputee soldiers and learned how this wonderful organization provides a place for them to live independently and with purpose ... and play wheelchair basketball.
