DAY 1--Wed. July 4--Travel day--&Orlando
We woke up at 4am, and woke the kids at 4:45 this morning to get to the airport in time. The kids were very well behaved. Everyone is very excited.
Oh no, did we lose "Sky" (Marissa's little stuffy) on the plane? We can't find it. (We were hoping it would turn up, but it never did... a lesson on keeping your things tidy--Marissa was pretty bummed since it was a special toy, but she decided to enjoy everything else she had going for her and save her money to buy a new one later.)
We dropped our stuff off at the hotel and took a short drive for groceries, dinner, and fireworks. The thunderstorm lit up the sky and fireworks were delayed over a half hour, but we patiently waited, enjoyed them in the parking lot, and finally headed back to our hotel around 10:30pm. The hotel is actually a time share, so we had a home with a full kitchen, 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, laundry, and private patio. Piper and Marissa shared a bed; Addisyn got the other queen bed in that bedroom to herself.
DAY 2--Thur. July 5--Water Park--Disney's Blizzard Bay and chillin' at hotel pool
*stock photos*lost ours/didn't take many but I *swear* I took some of M in the kiddie area and I can't find those either. oh well. We kept the camera with our belongings in a locker most of the day.
It was a big decision deciding which of the several awesome water parks we would do out here *smile*. Blizzard Beach did not disappoint even though we got stormed out at 3pm. There were areas for all our age levels. Marissa did the racer mat slides and the smaller tube slides, and the little kid area. Piper and Addisyn did the older kid "Ski Patrol" area, and all the big rides, including the 12 story free fall drop slide! Chris also did that one, and the speed meter measured them going 40-43mph!!! Knowing the weather was likely to turn on us later, we didn't want to give up fun time for lunch so we ate ice cream for lunchtime instead. We had done all but one ride when they had to close the park due to thunderstorms--we were in line in the rain trying to get on before they closed, but we missed it by just a few minutes.The kids are learning about the Florida water table and typical weather here.

DAY 3--Friday, July 6-- "Touristy" day -- Gatorland & Wonder Works (aka Upsidedown House)
I was hoping to do an airboat today, but those places were far away and we didn't want to sit in car for an hour. We found Gatorland, where the kids all fed young alligators with food on what looked like a rudimentary fishing pole, getting alligators to jump for food. The center area comedy show was called "Gator Jumparoo" and we learned a few facts about alligators, then we saw "Alligator Wrestling" at the arena. Nobody was ziplining across the alligator pond today!
Wonder Works combines fun entertainment with science sprinkled in. You enter through the "inversion tunnel" where the spinning cylindar around us made it hard to walk upright. We experienced hurricane winds, earthquake, and icy water in the extreme weather zone; the bed of nails, and mind control in the physical challenge zone; stepped into a NASA space suit and sat in the space capsule in the space zone; and we finished with an indoor high ropes course and the 4D show/ride. Addisyn completed the scavenger hunt book and earned a prize for everyone.
DAY 4--Saturday, July 7--Relax & chill at hotel day
On our way to breakfast this morning, Marissa asks "when is the storm coming today" because she learned that in Florida there is a thunderstorm every day. *grin* This is such a big timeshare property, that there are several pool areas; we got our place near the family friendly pool area with two pools, splash pad, slides, and lazy river. We reserved a cabana which had great location right on the lazy river so we could come and go, have shade, and hop in to float on a whim. Today's storm came around dinnertime, right after we left the pool...perfect timing for us! I went back to the store for more sunscreen to prep for the cruise while still on land.
