Cousin visits to Annabelle in Virginia--Round 2 Marissa

Karen took Marissa to visit Marcy & Matt & Annabelle in Virginia September 21-26.
Marissa got a little more one on one time with Annabelle as a reward for being patient since her sisters got to travel here first.  Chris was on the east coast for work and we timed the trip so he could meet us there for a couple days.

Our flight was good.  Marissa entertained herself with the toys she packed for herself.  She was well behaved, got her ipod music for 10 min before the battery died, and no screen time.  Not so say she wasn't bored at points....  Marissa told me she was "ready to get off the plane now" at one point, and even asked me to call the "snack lady" over so she could ask her to take the plane down.  I did love her commentary--when randomly looking out the window thinking aloud she said, "I think we're going into outer space now."  After a layover, she slept through the second flight, even landing, and I had to carry her off the plane (5am was an early wake-up call!).   Chris arrived a few hours after us.

I am happy to report that the tri-tip we packed for Matt was still frozen upon arrival.  I had wrapped it in a towel with a couple ice packs in an insulated lunch box, and put in the luggage.  Yes, we packed meat.  Apparently you can't get the good stuff out there. ;-D  We enjoyed it for dinner on Friday night.

We had fun every day.  Friday we went to the beach and rented a surrey bike for the first time.  Saturday Marissa got to join an ice skating class Marcy was helping with.  Chris had to leave on Sunday afternoon to drive to Pennsylvania for his residency week.  I felt bad that he had to turn around 45 out because my driver license was in HIS wallet, making the drive longer, oops.  Marissa and Annabelle went to the indoor water park and since Annabelle wears out sooner, Marissa got to stop at the playground on the way home (we wanted to keep the house quiet for nap time and study time).

Marcy took me out for my birthday Sunday night and Matt stayed home with the kids.  She took me out for my first ever Sushi and Saki and we had fun embarrassing ourselves at Top Golf electronic driving range.

We did the aquarium on our last full day here.  We were on hurricane watch for traveling home, but the weather did not alter our flights and we got home safely and on time.
