Salt Lake City

The girls and I flew out to Salt Lake City to meet Chris who was at a FPA retreat for the week. Addisyn and Piper were good on the flight (notice they look pretty content with those paci's!) and we had an extra empty seat, so we weren't too crowded even though Piper was a lap child.

The retreat was actually in Park City, a neighboring ski town in the mountains, so we spent one night there, and then 3 more nights in Salt Lake. We are so lucky--Susan & Bernie were able to meet up with us as part of their motorhome trip and met us at the airport and babysat a couple nights too. Grammy and Grampy were equally as excited as Addisyn and Piper to see each other--it was fun to watch their eyes get big and eyebrows go up as all of their faces lit up when they saw each other outside airport security.

Park City is BEAUTIFUL. We got free passes to ride the gondola, which was a 10 min ride up to the midpoint of the mountain from the resort. Ski lifts run even higher from there and some people were hiking or biking down so they used those. It was so nice being in nature and the fresh air. Addisyn enjoyed the gondola and the view from above the trees. Piper slept in grammy's arms the whole way up, but also enjoyed the ride coming down.

After leaving the resort we stopped at the site of the Olympics where we saw the bobsled run and ski jumps. We also watched kids practice ski jumps in lifejackets and helmets at the pool--very cool!

In Salt Lake City we BBQ'd at the motorhome, went to Temple square, rode the trolley, Discovery Gateway Childrens' museum, the Capitol, the hotel swimming pool, went to the farm and sat on tractors and milked a live cow, and floated in the Great Salt Lake. The trip was jam packed with fun.

I could taste the salt of the Great Salt Lake on my lips before the water even got above my knees. When Chris was floating, I laid my weight over him and he was still floating effortlessly because of the high salt concentration. The kids had fun, but I'll have to wait for Susan to get pictures from there (my camera battery died).
